DYNAMITE NEW WINE FROM PREMIER OREGON PRODUCER

"Domaine Drouhin adds a new group of wines for us to enjoy after they purchased the Roserock Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills in 2013. Winemaker Véronique Drouhin had already been familiar with this excellent vineyard, since they had purchased the fruit for other projects. The vineyard was planted between 2004 and 2006, 122 acres in total. I was lucky to be one of the first to try these new releases this past April at the Oregon Wine Auction. The vineyard is close to some of my favorite wineries, Bethel Heights, Cristom, Brooks, Evening Land, and Zena Crown. The wines were outstanding, and critics have given them all high praise as well." – Glen Knight, Wine House (2/9/17)

The 2014 vintage is already considered a classic Oregon vintage. A long, warm growing season and a relaxed, bountiful harvest has given us Pinot Noir with lovely color, beautiful fruit-forward character, excellent balance and the structure to age well, as well as Chardonnay with freshness, balance and depth. It is a perfect way to debut Roserock.

    FROM THE PRODUCER

The Zéphirine Pinot Noir is a barrel selection cuvée from the Roserock vineyard, and is a reference expression of the site. Zéphirine conveys winemaker Véronique Drouhin’s dedication to elegance and finesse, and will age meaningfully for years to come. The name refers to the Zéphirine Drouhin variety of climbing rose, which is known for its fragrance and beauty.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Zéphirine has a deep, rosewood color. On the nose, there is clear energy, and layers upon layers of violets, delicate roses, small berries and brush. On the palate, there is a wealth of blue and black fruit flavors balanced by excellent structure and fine tannins. As a whole, Zéphirine exudes complexity and refinement, and leads to a very long, satisfying finish. It will be lovely to experience as it ages over the next 8-10 years or more. – Véronique Drouhin

A juicy and intense wine with with lots of plum, chocolate and cedar undertones. Full-bodied and velvety. Pretty, gorgeous, racy and just so fine. Love the fruit and texture. Drink now.
